Not far from government house in Port Moresby, in a recently built up section of the city, is the Papua New Guinea National Museum and Art Gallery.
In the courtyard of the building is a rather sad collection of World War II artifacts, now rusting in the humid, rainy climate. The weapons inside the museum, mostly spears, have fared better.
The PNG War Museum owns a large collection of weaponry and relics from the Second World War, including the following planes:
- Ford Tri-Motor 5-AT A45-1
- P-400 Airacobra AP347
- CA-1 Wirraway A20-13
- P-38F Lightning 42-12647
- Ford Tri-Motor 5-AT A45-2
- G4M1 Betty Wing Wreckage
